"There are American Manchurian candidates solidly in place, and they are destroying the future of the American people. They are corporate approved, bought and paid for, and they masquerade as our representatives in congress!" -Author
With few exceptions, American politicians are working for
their power first, the corporate/military/industrial/ complex
second, and the United States Constitution and American
people a distant third. I regret to inform you, President
Barack Obama is no exception. -Author
The definition of Manchurian Candidate as used in the Skeptic's Guide to Power: Individual's in positions of power that take money for favors performed (does that ring a bell, or flash a red light?) and ordinary citizens that respond to propaganda, environmental and psychological conditioning. One common example showing the possibilities are people who voice opinions that are nearly word for word identical to those used by a parent or sibling, often, from many years earlier. Unfortunately, too many people substitute parent with "Big Brother"corporate government.
"Fascism should more appropriately be called corporatism because it is the merger of state and corporate power." - Benito Mussolini (takes one, to know one)
A major milestone in personal perception is that the American democracy that we were taught about in school, and through the media, and the democracy that exists today are very different things. The American people, overwhelmed by unchecked corporate power, now believe that capitalism and democracy are one and the same. They are not! The great American Constitution reads "We The People," and not "We The Corporations." When President Dwight Eisenhower left office, he warned of the serious threat to democracy posed by the military/industrial /congressional complex i.e. corporations and their lackeys, The actual fact of wide-spread corporate subversion and manipulation of the American democracy i.e. capitalism buying elected officials and therefore democracy itself is now very apparent.
When an individual, no matter how wealthy or powerful dies, further activities and continuance ceases, at least in this world. Corporations have no such limitation, they continue to accumulate power and wealth across many human lifetimes. The accumulated power and wealth is then used by many large corporations to undermine and corrupt governments at home and abroad and force laissez faire economics backed by war. They achieve their economic goals with minimal regard for people and the natural environment that people depend on. The only limitations to their power abroad are: those democratic countries where the people are vigilant and vote accordingly, those countries that are nationalistic, and the few countries that are ruled under state communism (most notably China). Lastly, when injured Nature retaliates with environmental fury, and where terrorism, war or revolution erupts with countervailing force (See the despicable Corporate Personhood on page 202).
Through the above methods and those outlined in tweedledee & tweedledum, (in the Skeptics Guide to Power) many Americans especially the young, become believers in a corrupt, corporate government's false picture of reality. In effect, they become Manchurian candidate sleepwalkers, ready to give their loyalty and in the case of draft-age youth their very lives for corporate empire expansion. Currently, the same empire expansion that was so badly mismanaged and exposed by the draft and reality dodgers at Bush and company. The dangers posed by America to itself, and the world, is explored throughout the Skeptic's Guide to Power.
President Obama, for the record, is the capitalist system's chief Manchurian Candidate functionary. His prime job is to save the floundering American world empire, and head off a worldwide rebellion against former President George Bush's threat to world peace through war and torture, corporate greed and mismanagement. The current AIG shell game scandal is just the latest example, i.e. passing billions of dollars through AIG to foreign banks, shareholders, and other assorted good old boys throughout the world. We the people are not supposed to ask where all the money has gone, because they have no intention of telling us. So much for Obama's declared transparency!
President Barack Obama, the American corporate empire's very acceptable Manchurian candidate, is now locked into campaign pledges to increase military spending, widen the Afghan war into Pakistan and other corporate agendas. He has already broken his promises for a U.S. withdrawal from Iraq, and continues in a one-sided stance to the Israeli/Palestinian conflict and follows George W Bush's path on torture and just about everything else. Adding to the above problems and making them far worse is how to recover from the world economic crisis, control global warming and continue with the phony war on drugs and terror with an empty treasury. Frankly, I wish President Obama were less the compromising politician (polite term), and far more the independent, tough-minded skeptic. Pray tell, where is all the money to come from? The answer, why print it of course. Moreover, the Chinese government, in particular, must know they are financially supporting an American military empire that is severely detrimental to their future interests. The mainstream press repeatedly, and unwittingly, explained the current reality i.e. America is the top military superpower left standing. Well, we have seen the results of even a non-nuclear 9/11 attack on a superpower (admittedly, the Bush/Cheney criminal gang were not only responsible for the 9/11 tragedy, but deliberately parlayed that tragedy into multiple long-term dangers for America).
"The welfare of the people in particular has always been the alibi of tyrants, and it provides the further advantage of giving the servants of tyranny a good conscience." - Albert Camus
The odds of a successful Obama administration favoring the American people, given the above factors, and the many right-wing Clinton era advisors in President Obama's administration, along with unrelenting Republican Party obstructionism and the corrupt duopoly congress, constitutes a very safe 1,000 to 1 bet toward "Brave New World" corporate totalitarianism. One thing is clear: the Obama administration now has the power to murder American citizens at home and abroad, as well as permanently detain individuals without charge or trial. Fascism did not end with Hitler, Franco and Mussolini, it simply changed its shape. The new modus operandi of fascism is to inculcate and indoctrinate itself within host democracies and push a set of policies, beliefs and lies repeatedly, until accepted by most of the electorate (the present corporate mainstream media, and privatizing of schools, prisons, mercenary armies and intelligence agencies, along with the ability to punish dissenters are also steps in that direction).
The horrific terrorist bombings in Spain and England were directly attributable to the contrived Bush/Blair war in Iraq and the power grab for Iraqi oil and empire. What is rarely mentioned in the mainstream press is that without a substantive change in American policy, terrorist attacks 1000 X the magnitude of Madrid and London are well within the realm of possibility, particularly when there is no time limit.
