Running In Reverse (Important Recent History)
"History is important, because if you don't know history its as if you were born yesterday." - Howard Zinn
"The people in the white house that send our young people to kill or be killed in wars based on lies are the true aliens to me. " - Howard Zinn (author & historian).
"Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear."
- George Orwell
"The people don't matter to this gang. They pay no attention. They think in totalitarian terms. They've got the troops. They've got the army. They've got Congress. They've got the judiciary. Why should they worry? Let the chattering classes chatter. Bush is a thug. I think there is something really wrong with him. " - Gore Vidal
"All political systems abhor skepticism, because it encourages critical thinking, questions the status quo, and unmasks disguised, unjust and corrupt political systems." - Author
" Those who approve of torture and contrived wars are the worst of criminal psychopaths.
"The last century was not silent to the great destruction of people through poverty, pestilence and warfare. Through the mixed blessings of science, in combination with human stupidity and greed, the next century will be far worse. Face reality if you dare, America's lord and master George W Bush's criminal and incompetent congress approved a path of stupidity, thievery and mass murder into national decline at best and Armageddon at worst. * The abysmal corporate owned congress of the United States, even after clear evidence of Bush administration war crimes and sanctioned torture was witness to speaker of the house Nancy Polosi's declaration that the impeachment of George W Bush was off the table, and along with the Senate's monstrous vote to maintain a ban on time honored Habeas Corpus, made it abundantly clear that the American and world's people will face a continuing corporate grab for world fascist power and empire. I regret to inform you that President Barack Obama continues on that Manchurian path (See Manchurian Candidates page listed above). **
From the New Testament, the last battle between good and evil before the Day of Judgment.
- a biblical hill of Megiddo, an archaeological site on the plain of Esdraelon, south of present-day Haifa in Israel. See also Megiddo.
- the place where the last battle between good and evil will be fought.
- a dramatic and catastrophic conflict, typically seen as likely to destroy the world or the human race : Origin Greek, from the Hebrew.
Were it not for nuclear weaponry, the word Armageddon would be just another religious fantasy word to scare people into submission to the dominant hierarchy. What does alarm me is the nexus of an incompetent, blindsided United States government and an Israeli state run by fanatics. This writer's real concern is the fate of Palestinian, Israeli, and other Middle East children that will suffer the consequences.
** "The definition of Manchurian Candidate as used in the Skeptic's Guide to Power: Those individual's in positions of power that take money for favors performed (does that ring a bell, or flash a red light?) and ordinary citizens that respond to propaganda, environmental and psychological conditioning. One common example showing the possibilities are people who voice opinions that are nearly word for word identical to those used by a parent, past peer group or sibling, often, from many years earlier. Unfortunately, too many people now substitute parent with "Big Brother" corporate government.
"The surge of troops speech made by President George W. Bush, and delivered at the edge of the Iraqi abyss, was equivalent in substance to "Simple Simon says jump."- Author
" Bush's fifth American general ordered to Iraq, in the fifth Iraq war surge, meant that more mothers' sons and daughters were sent to kill, to be killed, or maimed fighting a lost war. " (See next).
"Never mentioned in the mainstream press is that the present Shiite dominated Iraqi government, and the Shiite mullahs in both Iraq and Iran won the Iraq war, thanks to the arrogant and bungling incompetence of the Bush-Cheney administration! The let's pretend success of the later Iraq troop surge is because the Shiite's found the lie convenient (this was a temporary, American taxpayer paid in cash arrangement to keep the Sunnis quiet). Further raising the stakes surge to reverse the catastrophe that is Iraq and Afghanistan is explained in the next quote."
"The Bush II presidency, will be remembered as the pivotal event in the decline of the American empire. A presidency run like an incompetent criminal enterprise by immoral, arrogant and chicken-hawk people declaring a very premature victory on an aircraft carrier. A presidency that started Gulf War II, and then lost it to the Shiite mullahs. Yes, lost the war, morally, politically and economically. There must be considerable satisfaction among the mullahs of Iran, for without sacrificing any Iranian lives or treasure they manipulated the Bush administration not only into getting rid of their sworn enemy Saddam Hussein, but in elevating a like minded Shiite majority to rule Iraq. Quite simply, they fed false information through a known Iraqi trickster to a Bush administration committed to, and blinded by, the rush to war. We now know conclusively, that the Bush administration deliberately twisted intelligence to launch a badly planned, predetermined war with ultimate benefit to Iran and bin Laden's al Quida! Get it straight; the 9/11 tragedy was deliberately allowed to occur (further explored in the Skeptic's Guide to Power)!" -Author
"The Bush administration supported by the traitorous axis of the willing in Congress, made it abundantly clear, the only difference between the American mafia and the U.S. government is in magnitude." - Author
"Terrorism is the war of the poor, and war is the terrorism of the rich."
- Peter Ustinov
"A familiar means of denying a reality is to refuse to use the words that describe that reality. A common form of propaganda is to keep reality from being described." - George Lakoff
"The American myth is the man who will not be fenced in; the American reality is the man who is drafted to die in far places and for dim purposes."
- Clinton Rossiter / The Conservative
"The road to fascism is being paved at a clandestine yet alarming velocity, across valleys, prairies and forests, surrounding cites, towns and states, from Atlantic to Pacific, immersing 300 million individuals into a fog of engendered tyranny, who without a care or whisper or concern remain trapped by comfortable surroundings born through perpetual indebtedness. Even as their rights and freedoms and liberties are made to disappear, even as their Constitution is burned, even as their nation hangs on the precipice of despotism, even as their collective destiny is being destroyed those residing inside the belly of the beast hear no evil, see no evil and feel no evil, preferring to gossip about pedophile politicians and celebrity failings than informing themselves to the last throes of the American republic."
- Manuel Valenzuela, thepeoplesvoice.org
If you find the above revelatory statements shocking, then let me welcome you to reality. You should find the pages on this website and the Guide to Power downloadable .pdf file preview of considerable interest.
V.F. Calverton writing about the aftermath of WWI. "The European world had been too startled from its equilibrium ever to return to its old routine and ritual. The returning soldiers were not the same men who had once gone to war. They were apprehensive, restless, and disillusioned. The brutalizing terrorism of the war had made men into maniacs; and it required more than a sudden truce to calm those impulses which this madness of conflict had aroused. The old moral values had lost their influence and power. Bitterness and hatred had become more than occasional emotions in the lives of these men. They had seen their generation smashed" - as John Freeman, the protagonist in "Fanatics" cried in his attack upon his father and the old generation.
"You who sat here in comfort all these five years of hell. You don't know what I am talking about. You've forgotten, I tell you... Your generation has done ours in. Smashed it! Millions! If we were to stand at that window and they marched past us, they'd march all day, and all night, and all day again for days and nights. Dead men! Dead! For what?"
President George W Bush's "War On Terrorism" was a false metaphor because war is state sponsored terrorism. The great historian Howard Zinn pointed out that:
"The terrorism that governments are capable of by going to war is on a far, far greater scale than the terrorism of al-Qaeda or this group or that group or another group. Governments are terrorists on an enormously large scale. The United States has been engaging in terrorism against Afghanistan, against Iraq, and now they're threatening to extend their terrorism to other places in the Middle East." - Howard Zinn
"Our American soldiers are fighting and dying in Iraq for the American people, but they are doing so because of a criminal American government. They are fighting and dying in a criminal war contrived by the neocon gang of Dick Cheney, George W Bush, Donald Rumsfeld et al, and for the war profiteering companies of Bechtel and Haliburton and Blackwater, for the Military /Industrial /Congressional complex, for oil companies and empire. The truly awful thing is that so few of our young soldiers are aware they are in fact Manchurian Candidates" (see Manchurian Candidates page listed at top). -Author
"Wars throughout history have been waged for conquest and plunder.... the working class who fight all the battles, the working class who make the supreme sacrifices, the working class who freely shed their blood and furnish their corpses, have never yet had a voice in either declaring war or making peace. It is the ruling class that invariably does both. They alone declare war and they alone make peace.... They are continually talking about their patriotic duty. It is not their but your patriotic duty that they are concerned about. There is a decided difference. Their patriotic duty never takes them to the firing line or chucks them into the trenches."
- Eugene V. Debs
"All those who seek to destroy the liberties of a democratic nation ought to know that war is the surest and shortest means to accomplish it."
- Alexis de Tocqueville
"The apostle of imperial dominance, Bush slew the last empire. The towering figure of our time, he is a piteously small man. The self-anointed emissary of a higher father, he is servant to no power but himself. The captain of the sinking ship has laid his command upon his fellow Americans: Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for me. No sacrifice of life shall be too great, no damage to civil liberties too high, no expenses too vast for a vainglorious man deluded by fantastic dreams of redemption by force." - Bernard Chazelle
(from the article "Bush The Empire Slayer " available at Pierre Tristam/Candide's Notebook) http://www.pierretristam.com
"George Walker Bush's legacy to the American people and world is a precipitous, and therefore dangerous decline of the American empire, in crimes against nature and humanity, in a present win and future threat from al Quida, in an eight year denial of global warming and in triggering a new, and extremely dangerous nuclear arms race (North Korea, India and Pakistan)! The above occurring when the unchecked power of corporations combine with the pathological power of fanatics, both seeking to rule the world! The people who lost their lives on 9-11 by terrorist attack and later by hurricane Katrina gave the final warning, the United States government is now run by the same military-industrial corporations that were complicit in the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, Robert Kennedy, Martin Luther King Jr., (and probably, the Manchurian candidate silencing of the peace activist John Lennon) all contributing to the overthrow of the American Republic. The Bush administration continued the criminal enterprise. The present American empire is based on unrestrained greed, on military force, on manipulating a nation of sheep to the will of the corporate dominated state. The last American pretense, of having a higher moral authority was utterly shattered by George W. Bush's presidential sanctioned torture!" - Author
"Do you recognize this criminal crusader, hypocrite and liar? We don't do torture, besides. this decider consults directly with father. The heavenly father. Wow, a lunatic President with impeccable connections! Actually, the connection is with a far lower entity, on the line of what the neocons would have you believe, i.e. torture light and Alice in wonderland." - Author

The following excerpt is from a speech by Alice Slater at the United Nations on January 19, 2006, the full speech is on page 294.
-- It is an honor to be here at the United Nations to pay tribute to a genuine world hero, Colonel Stanislav Petrov, who simply by his good instincts in 1983, went against all he was trained to do and averted a terrible nuclear holocaust on our planet. He refused to follow procedures that could have led to the launching of the Soviet nuclear arsenal against the United States, after he had observed an unexplained intrusion of Soviet air space on his computer while serving as the duty officer at Russia's main nuclear command center.
Note: The neoconservatives in the Reagan Administration prolonged the nuclear arms race with the then Soviet Union for at least ten years. The situation faced by Colonel Stanislav Petrov was a direct consequence of that history. The neoconservatives came back under George W Bush to inflame the Middle East and place America on a down trajectory environmentally, economically and politically. Will they resurrect themselves for yet a third time, perhaps in a nuclear confrontation with China? Just how stupid are the American people?

Step beyond the 80% truth zone; recognize the neoconservative creation of wars, chaos, torture and death as a very dangerous and futile attempt to dominate the world." - Author
"The Skeptic's Guide to Power is considered radical in the valley of the blind."
The first truth is that our country has been stolen by a bunch of fascist bastards that have placed America and the world at the edge of the abyss! Surely you now know, not to expect the present incumbent Republican and Democratic traitors to initiate anything for the better (exceptions Kucinich, Feingold, Sanders and a few others). We must take back America in future elections by throwing nearly the entire U.S. Congress out of office. Make your vote really count!
"We The People" have been deliberately misled, again, into supporting the same failed war of attrition that was used in Vietnam, with one extremely important difference, we now live in an age when it has never been easier for terrorists to obtain, target and use, both low and high-tech weaponry of mass destruction and without time limits! This statement is further explained below, and in the two part book Guide to Power and Skeptic's Guide to Power
An Iraqi war to what end? A war that played directly into bin Laden's hands, and placed American and Iraqi citizens and American soldiers needlessly in harms way. A war based on a pack of lies and false information, to further Bush administration neoconservative and corporate agendas, power and profits, through the control of the United States government, a sham Iraqi democracy and Iraqi oil (and with vast war profiteering). There is a straight arrow logic that leads from before 9/11 to the present Iraqi quagmire (this is further exposed in the Skeptic's Guide to Power section What Every American Should Know).
Deliberately ignoring the al Quida threat prior to 9/11 was a two edged sword! Initially, 9/11 was an excuse to justify the war in Afghanistan, and open a back door to the long desired neoconservative Iraqi assault. The down side, was to take on a religion whose many serious practitioners are quite willing to give up their lives via Jihad, which I assure you is a very big deal (the availability of twentieth century weaponry adds a whole new dimension to Jihad). That Bush in ignorance used the word crusade in a speech was a preview of dire things to come. The fact that Bush the incompetent crusader actually brought Ayatollah rule to Iraq proved that ignorance. Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld, and the rest of the Bush junta, were both incompetent and monumentally ignorant of the Islamic religion and culture and guaranteed a disaster in the making. Incidentally, the term al Quida, was first used to identify bin Laden's particular terrorist organization for the convenience of the American judicial system. Bush and company agendas and incompetence made it into a growth name brand. The prideful idiots in the Bush administration labeled themselves by the superior Star Trek character term Vulcans, I use the more accurate lower order term Klingon barbarian torturers.
Dear reader, if you do not know that the Bush Administration turned America into the world's foremost terrorist state, and placed all Americans in extreme danger, then you know nothing! The last four words is a declaration that the Skeptic's Guide to Power was not written to lead the majority of American citizens further down the primrose path of ignorance. President George Walker Bush with thoughtless arrogance declared "bring them on," and then by sanctioned torture, supplied al Quida and the Iraqi and Afghan insurgency with the biggest incentive and recruitment tool imaginable to do just that. The insurgents and al Quida then declared far and wide that Bush the Satan Crusader blasphemed Allah, tortures our brothers and sisters and is intent on stealing our oil. Defense Secretary Rumsfeld, sowed "shock and awe" bombing, death squads and torture against the Iraqi and Afghan peoples, and American soldiers and the American people will reap the whirlwind far into the future. This last is the true "Mission Accomplished," declared by the moral pygmy George W. Bush. American troops on the ground paid an awful price for such criminality and lunacy!
The truly awful thing about the Iraqi showdown, in addition to the lives and money lost, is that the American people are far less safe now then before the war began. When the Bush junta finally left office after eight years of running in the wrong direction, a far more extensive terrorist threat remained in place. Which, along with a more destabilized Middle East, global warming and severe economic problems at home, will prove the utter stupidity of resolving the al Quida threat by a manipulated war of choice against Afghanistan and Iraq, instead of a dedicated world police action against al Quida. The Bush administration's incredible, bungling and running in the wrong direction has undermined America's security, standing and future prospects throughout the world! If you have just a glimpse into the future of rule by greed and power, you will begin preparing for the unpleasantness that lies ahead (smart survivalists, and a substantial number of the rich will have a head start in this regard).
The arrogant charlatan that we called our President, totally oblivious to reality, titled the first of his self-glorifying speeches Victory, which only fools and lackeys could swallow without choking (admittedly, this President is made to dance by PR people, speech writers, the acting cast and lie supportive corporate media, and the criminal ideologue directors Dick Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Gonzales et al). The only "Victory" for the Bush administration was in establishing a U.S. Devils Island at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, where sadists can torture to death, or force into insanity, any unlucky bastard swept up in an Iraqi curfew or found standing on a street corner. Can't use nuclear weapons or superior firepower to beat the insurgents? No problem, round up every Iraq male from 12 to 70, off the streets of their country and put them in gulags via the infamous Vietnam Phoenix program. Getting many Americans to support their lying, war mongering asses could also be called a perverted "Victory." One truly outrageous point: American soldiers will remain in Iraq for years to come, killing and dying and suffering grievous wounds in support of a U.S. corporate expansion, in the corporate theft of Iraqi oil, for a country ruled by Shiite Mullahs with strong ties to Iran, and for as long as the war lasts, the war-profiteering of the Corporate/Military/Industrial complex!
Note: Whoever controls Iraqi oil can reduce oil production, and thus maintain, or drive up the price of oil (as is presently occurring in Iraq, with great benefit to Bush and Cheney's oil company buddy's and backers). Nice arrangement, Bush made a mess in the Middle East, and American taxpayer's get to pay the price of the Iraq war in young American soldiers lives, in the cost of the war itself and at the gas pump!
The Skeptic's Guide to Power is the destroyer of lies, ignorance and greed." - Author
Say what we will about the rule of the Bush neoconservatives, it must be admitted that their arrogant ambitions are second to none. Their dangerous doctrine, of "perpetual war for perpetual peace" for permanent control of the former American democracy and world is still underway. Presently, with President Obama in office, a total lack of citizen freedom and mindlessness is hidden from the gullible populace.
Recently, Bush just prior to the Presidency of Barack Obama went through the dance motion of withdrawing troops from Iraq, to delude the American people into thinking that there was a divine light at the end of the Iraqi "Big Dig tunnel." * The cynical ploy only possible because fully supported by the deceiving, bought and paid for corporate mainstream news media (some American troops out, while intensifying the bombing against those opposed to the U.S. installed Shiite government which favors Iran?). Additionally, the reality tipping point wrought by hurricane Katrina, and continuing U.S. sponsored torture throughout the world, may wake up the American people and change the prospects for the Obama government (and accelerate the decline of the American empire). **
* Reference to the Boston, Mass, road and tunnel project, which like the Iraq war, criminally siphoned off enormous amounts of tax payer money (privatization run amuck, further discussed in the Skeptic's Guide to Power). Dreadfully, the Iraqi fiasco differs in the many thousands of American soldiers and Iraqi civilian lives sacrificed.
** The news coverage of hurricane Katrina, was one of those rare occasions when temporarily, television escaped the "boob tube news" appellation.
The U.S. military bases announced by Bush for Rumania and Poland (threatening Russia) just before he was replaced by Barack Obama, was not a strengthening of the American empire, but a sign of more militarization, overreach and decline. President Obama did something right, he cancelled the Rumania and Polish bases. The American people must be told, a militaristic, Roman style empire building is suicidal in a nuclear age. What are the odds that a Chinese equivalent of Mikhail Gorbachev, will stop a future U.S./Chinese nuclear Armageddon? There is persistent talk that President Obama administration will voluntarily withdraw troops from Iraq, however. an enormous embassy and permanent military bases prove that big lie. If you are reasonably skeptic, you will consider the 14 U.S. bases and enormous embassy as a permanent and wider intrusion into the Middle East and beyond. What is in the cards, is an Iraqi civil war supplying technical cover and support for a U.S. withdrawal into the 14 heavily fortified bases being rushed to completion. The name of the game is endless lies to the American people. The Iraq fiasco, along with the recent revelations of widespread spying on the American people, without any legal checks and balances, along with the Jack Abramoff lobbyist corruption meltdown created panic in Washington. The Republican party faithful (Idiotes***), were justifiably nervous about their election prospects.
*** Idiotes A fine Greek word used to describe people who may have a high IQ but are focused exclusively on their own lives with no concern for the common good (found in the fine article Doughface Nation, by Hal Crowther).
Is the following fact or fiction? I am a fourteen year old Iraqi boy whose mother and father and two sisters were killed in the middle of the night by American bombs. I say to all Americans, don't sleep, for one day I will get you. I am an Afghan girl, whose father and two brothers were taken away, tortured and killed by American mercenaries. One day with God's help, I will stop crying and avenge my father and brothers' deaths.
What the above paragraphs and history itself indicates is that through a series of arrogant and criminal blunders stretching from Vietnam to the present, a tipping point in world perception about the American empire has arrived, most notably in the Muslem world. From past U.S. actions that created killing fields in Cambodia during the Nixon administration, and again in Central America during the Reagan Presidency, to President Clinton's launching of cruise missiles against Iraq (the so called Monica Lewinsky missiles), to Rumsfeld's shock and awe munitions and torture used against the Iraqi people, to mind patterns that are indelibly fixed for a lifetime in the minds of U.S. victimized people (as expressed by the young Iraqi and Afghan children above), an increasingly more dangerous world has been created. Regressive actions by any government, when combined with idiotic economic and environmental policies, guarantees catastrophes. Sadly, the United Nations which could play an essential, world safeguarding role is increasingly dominated by a U.S. retrograde government.
Hidden in the bowels of the horrific Iraq war, Vice President Cheney's former company Halliburton, with no-bid Iraqi contracts, continues to rip off the American people big time. Around thirty billion dollars was earmarked for Iraqi reconstruction, of which X billions has disappeared without a trace, and with billions more diverted to putting down the Iraqi insurgency (no one knows the exact division of the money between the two, thanks to Enron type accounting and the magic words National Security). Recently, forty billion dollars was stripped from child welfare, education and medicare. Vice President Dick Cheney, true to his name, flew back from Afghanistan to cast the deciding vote. Money to pay for a very expensive war, money for expensive war profiteering, and huge tax cuts for the already obscenely rich are considered wonderful priorities by the George Walker Bush administration. The American people are now, or should be, fully awake to the criminals running their government backwards, thanks to a hard slap delivered by a hurricane named Katrina.
This writer will do what the congress of the United States is too cowardly and corrupt to do, I accuse the Bush administration of high crimes against the American, Afghanistan and Iraqi people, not only for launching an illegal, immoral and unjustifiable war but in condoning the use of death squads, horrific acts of torture and the use of chemical weapons in contravention to the Geneva accords. Finally, of common thievery through the Corporate/Military/Industrial complex. Incredibly, President Bush allowed Vice President Dick Cheney to ask congress for a special exemption, to allow the CIA to engage in torture. This last abominable disgrace, put on world display the hypocrisy, sheer incompetency, arrogance and evil of the George Walker Bush administration. Is it any wonder that the Bush administration is opposed to the World Court of Justice? Nearly the entire Bush junta would be fit candidates for prosecution. How does your everyday decent American feel, when the Egyptian prime minister replies to an American journalist's protest against torture "why you Americans do it all the time." Wake up Americans, when you next vote, drive a stake through the heart of the black- hearted neocon vampires,* before they suck up what's left of our national decency, freedoms, blood and treasure... on the way to ending the world. Impeach President George Walker Bush!
* The reference to "drive a stake through the heart of" is based on the fact that unlike fictional vampires, the same neocons running the Bush administration today, were active during and after the short Nixon detente era of nuclear stand down with the former Soviet Union and managed to prolong the extremely dangerous cold war for an additional ten years (that nearly ended the world). The Skeptic's Guide to Power section "What Every American Should Know," delves further into this dangerous period of cold war history. Please note: this author does not really believe in Vampires, or the Devil, only in human greed and stupidity.
-- Neocon vampires are reanimated corpses believed to rise from the grave at night to suck the blood of sleeping Americans, thus making them silly with fear and susceptible to manipulation.
-- For as long as someone has occasion to read this Guide to Power, let it be known throughout the world of the criminality and stupidity perpetrated against the American, Afghanistan and Iraqi people by the anti-Christ administration of President George W. Bush.
-- Bombing innocent civilians in Lebanon, Gaza, Afghanistan and Iraq with all manner of atrocious weapons means that the Israeli State, and the United States, have increased the danger to their own citizens for the next fifty years. It's simply cause and effect, action and reaction, sowing the irrational wind and reaping its return. - Author
The Bush-Cheney administration, with unconscionable support from the two party corporate state,
continued the attempt at world empire in the stupidest way imaginable, which is to say, without benefit of history or foresight, and with total dependence on military means. The horrific result in American honor, death, destruction, and dire economic future is now quite apparent. The talented Barrack Obama, wedded to the corporate controlled Tweedledee & Tweedledum political parties, the military-industrial complex and Israel will not save America from further disaster. Worldwide U.S. imperialism is now the most dangerous WMD on the planet, and even though President Obama maybe a vital reversal on a few domestic matters he continues the disastrous policies of imperialism that endangers all life on Earth. - Author
"The war in Iraq and Afghanistan is, among other things, a way for neoconservatives to insure that the federal government fails in its prime mission to promote the general welfare, a mission mandated by the U.S. Constitution. We will have a government less able to serve the needs of its people not because we want that kind of government, but because so much of our financial resources will have been poured into the sands of Iraq and the mountains of Afghanistan. Between tax breaks for the wealthy and the costs of the war, President Bush is bankrupting the American treasury. It has all been a tissue of lies, from weapons of mass destruction to the irresponsible low-ball estimates of the war's costs, to the unfulfilled claims that Iraqi oil would pay for our troops. - Huck Gutman article (Lying about the Ruinous Cost of the War in Iraq)."
"Jon Stewart, tv scourge of america's right, turns his satire against Barack Obama
in a recent interview on fox news, Stewart explained his disappointment with Obama. "he ran as a visionary, and he's led as a functionary," he told fox talkshow host Bill O'reilly. Obama had betrayed his "change" campaign mantra by keeping the "same system and the same people in place." - Paul Harris in New York
